RE: Siting of storage container, 1 Lezayre Park, Ramsey, IM8 2PS
I am wishing to apply to site a 20ft storage container to be used as a motorcycle storage/workshop on the north east corner of my rear garden in lieu of a traditional shed. There are no trees that need felling and the site is clear. The placement is adjacent to the garage of 1 Gardeners Lane, the garden shed of 3 Lezayre Park and diagonal to the garage of 5 Lezayre Park (see attached plans).
I understand this is unusual, but I intend to clad the container with wood cladding (like the example pictures attached) to hide the fact it is a container and it appear much like any other wooden shed. The cladding would be treated timber board sourced from the local builders yard, it will be fixed to the container via timber batons affixed at points to metal brackets welded to the outside. I've attached some pictures of the process. Its external dimensions are 2.4m wide x 6.1m long x 2.6m high, the height being lower than the permitted height for a shed. I also intend to site it on blocks, not raised any higher than the existing ground, thus reducing the need for too much groundworks in creating a concrete pad. Should we move again the likelihood is the container would come with us. The container wouldn't be visible when entering Lezayre Park, it would only be slightly visible from the south bound road of Gardeners Lane (see attached pictures).
The container is currently, and temporarily, placed in the front garden of my property, this was placed so I could easily move our belongings inside the house and garage since they were stored in it from our move here from Australia. I had intended to purchase and erect a shed in the same spot on the rear corner (under permitted development rules) but since the pandemic it seems the raw materials are very hard to come by and a shed would likely not be available until late in the year.
I have seen several residential properties around the island with storage containers and several that had been cladded, I thought this to be a very innovative idea and would suit us perfectly. I have had quotes to crane it into place and if permitted it would be done as a matter of urgency, I have no wish to keep the container in its current position longer than necessary.
Kind Regards

RE: Widening of access and driveway, 1 Lezayre Park, Ramsey, IM8 2PS
I wish to apply to widen my driveway and access to my property. The current opening is only 2.4 metres wide and isn't really fit for the purpose of getting a large vehicle in. The driveway is on an angle to the drop kerb and can't easily be accessed without mounting the higher part of the kerb. I own a long wheelbase van and could only just get in the driveway. We own 2 other cars, 1 is to be kept in the garage and I wish for the other one to be parked off the road also. I do not wish for the existing drop kerb to be changed and no parking spaces on the road outside the property will be affected. My garden is very large and mostly lawned, I don't believe the access and resulting works on the driveway will affect run off or create a car park like appearance. The existing hedging and plants will remain.
I have started to widen the access as I wasn't aware I needed planning permission to do so. Both brick piers that are in place were loose and posed a hazard, the left on missing in the pictures fell with a little push and the right one is also loose and needs removing and repairing soon regardless. I intend to make good the ends of the walls and replace the piers with either similar brick or timber.
Kind Regards
