Officer’s Report

The site represents a piece of land to the south west of the existing Airport Garage situated on the southern side of Ballasalla and on the south eastern side of the A5 between Ballasalla village and Ronaldsway airport.

Proposed here is the storage of a number of coaches on the site. The applicant clarifies that these will include 1 coach, 2 single deck buses and 2 minibuses.

Various objections have been received to this on the basis of the increased traffic which will emerge from the existing exit from the garage. Vehicles entering the site will use the existing entrance used also be garage traffic.

Malew Commissioners do not object to this application.

I have spoken with Department of Transport who consider that this will represent a marginal increase in the amount of traffic using the entrance and exit and that it is not unacceptable. These things have to park somewhere and there will be no adverse visual impact from the proposal and the garage is a busy one which already accommodates significant traffic coming and going.
