The Secretary of the Planning Committee, Office of Planning, Murray House, Mount Havelock, Douglas.
Dear Sir,
Rushen Parish Commissioners have considered the following planning applications:-
a) 03/1483. The Retreat, Surby Road. Mr & Mrs P Kneen. Proposed two storey extension to east elevation. Approved.
b) 03/1466. North of Scholaby, near Ballakilpheric - abandoned mineshaft. Dept. of Trade & Industry. Construction of reinforced concrete shaft cap/plug. Approved.
c) 03/1168. Land rear of Ballahane Cottage, Truggan Rd. Complete Construction Ltd. Amended plans received - amended access. The Commissioners note the Fire Officer's Report - "Recommend Refusal as amended plans do not alter the means of escape from the upper floor, which is via the ground floor dining room which is inherently unsafe in the event of a fire". The Commissioners would also like to point out that, as the access would now be onto the new Heritage Homes Estate, that this property will be, in effect, an extra property served by the roads, sewers, etc. of that Estate.
d) 03/1572. Raeburn, Ballagawne Road. Mrs A M Kelly. Creation of parking to front garden. Approved.
e) 03/1615. Barrule, Shore Road. Newhaven Properties. Demolition of existing
derelict bungalow and replacement with single dwelling and attendant parking. The Commissioners note the Fire Officer's Report - "recommend refusal as means of escape from the first floor sleeping accommodation is affected by the open plan study on the first floor". If the plans could be made to comply with the fire regulations then the Commissioners would approve this plan.
f). 03/1714. Ballagale House, Surby. Mr R Ryan. Proposed dwelling and site works to include drive-way and new access and removal of small stone out-building. The Commissioners feel that this dwelling should be on the same building line as the other properties on Ballagale Avenue to which it is accessed (not in line with the older property, Ballagale House which accesses onto Mill Road.
Yours faithfully,
Gillian Kelly (Mrs) Clerk
