This application sought Registered Building Consent for the installation of architectural external lighting on the Market Hall, located at the corner of North Quay and Market Hill in Douglas. The building is a registered structure within the North Quay Conservation Area. During the process, the proposal was amended to use fibre optic lighting instead of the original approach. This change was accepted on the basis that it would deliver the same lighting effect while causing less physical impact on the historic building fabric. The Planning Committee permitted the development in May 2004, in line with the officer's recommendation. One condition was attached to the consent.

The Planning Committee permitted the installation of architectural external lighting on the Market Hall. The proposal was amended during the process to use fibre optic lighting, which was considered to achieve the same visual effect while having less physical impact on the registered building. The officer recommended approval and the committee agreed.
