Planning Statement
Clougher Cottage Ballamodha Straight Ballasalla
Job No.: 2.1493
PLANNING STATEMENT 24th JUNE 2003
The original application was approved at the meeting of the 16th January 2002, accompanying that application was a Statement where we referred to the existing walls as being of a poor quality and we envisaged areas having to be rebuilt and hoped that this could be contained to those areas where it was absolutely necessary, but in the main retaining the existing stonework.
An Engineer's report has since been received, a copy of which is enclosed.
The report has highlighted the very poor condition of the existing structure and recommends re-building as the only practical solution.
This application is therefore to address the Engineer's recommendations, it can be seen from the drawings that the footprint and all elevations are identical to the original application. Minor internal alterations have been made to address the change in wall thicknesses.
Our client is still anxious that the character of the existing building is retained. We feel that the quality of stone finish will be enhanced as a result of re-building in that the existing stonework can be retained, selected and re-used as necessary, supplemented with new stonework to match existing.
