Planning Report and Recommendations ### General Report Site Visited ☑ YES / ☐ NO The application is for alterations and refurbishment of the control tower annex on Jurby Airfield. The alterations can be classified into the following elements: 1. the removal of existing cement/asbestos roof sheeting and its replacement with plasti-coated metal profile sheeting in colour 12 B 27 (olive green); 2. the replacement of the existing softwood doors and frames with similar in hardwood; 3. the re-opening of bricked up windows and the installations of new metal framed casement windows (single glazed) to match main control tower building. 4. the renewal of all rainwater goods and reconstruction of soakaways; and 5. remedial/repair works to existing roof covering and rendering of link corridor between main building and annex. Representations have been received from Manx National Heritage regarding the proposed materials and requesting that access for recording is allowed prior to the commencement of the works. Although the building is not registered or within a conservation area there has been some recent interest in the historic quality of the buildings on the former Jurby Airfield and the proposal was accordingly with the Conservation Section. Steve Moore was of the opinion that the proposals were generally acceptable and should be encouraged as they aided the viable use of an historic building. However, it was his opinion that the replacement plasti-coated metal profile sheeting should be light grey in colour and not olive green as proposed. The proposal is considered to be acceptable subject to conditions relating to historical recording and the colour of the proposed replacement roof. Signed A.
