11 July 2003 · Committee
Car Park Opposite Glen Mona Hotel Glen Mona Ramsey
This application, at the car park opposite the Glen Mona Hotel in Ramsey, related to construction and extension to an existing feature on the site. It was refused by the Planning Committee in July 2003. The committee identified three significant failings in the application. First, the drawings submitted were inaccurate and did not correspond to what had actually been carried out on site. Second, the application provided no information about the material that had been tipped, including drainage arrangements and the stability of that material, making a proper planning assessment impossible. Third, no planting scheme was proposed, and the tipped material was already visible as an unattractive and out-of-place feature in the landscape when viewed from the Glen Mooar loop Road and the Manx Electric Railway.
The application was refused by the Planning Committee on 11 July 2003. The committee found that the submitted drawings were inaccurate and did not reflect what had actually been carried out on site. The application also failed to provide essential information about the tipped material, drainage, and ground stability, making a full assessment impossible. No planting proposals were included, and the tipped material was considered visually harmful to the landscape as seen from the Glen Mooar loop Road and the Manx Electric Railway.
