MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR CAMPSITES To be recognised within the Isle of Man Campsite Scheme a property must meet all the minimum entry requirements. As a result of this visit a 2 Star rating has been awarded.
All requirements appeared to be well provided at the time of the visit Provision of an accessibility statement advised.
Hotel Bell Tents has established a location upon the Island for the period of the TT upon the playing field area of Ballakermeen High School and utilising some of the school facilities during this time.
It is very good to see the consideration being given to the school and the local community with the location of the tents as to cause minimal disturbance during this busy period.
It is appreciated the time given by Bobby to show the facilities provided both within the tents and in the school areas.
The site has achieved a Two Star grading following the recent assessment under the new criteria.
The site, as has been mentioned is located with the grounds of the Ballakermeen School and situated in a generally residential location.
The site is however very well placed being within easy distance of the TT course and well located as a base for visiting further parts of the Island and being within easy distance of Douglas and for all the other attractions that the area and Island has to offer.
Guests benefit from easy access to the location and ample parking provision. Some slight protection offered by the school building whilst set in a high position.
A reception facility is provided within the main entrance area to the school with tabling and seating provided for any waiting guests.
Bookings have been dealt with directly by Hotel Bell Tents and appointed agents thus ensuring security for all guests. Hotel Bell Tents team members are available, together with a security team, at all times to ensure the smooth running of all facilities and services.
Hotel Bells Tents has the use of the main sports field belonging to Ballakermeen High School with the grass having been recently cut and all grass cuttings removed, ensuring that cuttings do not pass to other areas. Tents have been well spaced allowing ample movement for guests whilst also being ample for any emergency services should the need arise. Lighting is well provided at the main facilities buildings and the school itself whilst also being able to offer security cameras to add to the guests comfort.
Ample refuse provision has been provided with a regular service collection arranged.

Tents present well and are well spaced and internally create a very good impression with beds well laid out. Quality mattresses and Egyptian cotton bedding adding to the guest experience and with ample illumination noted for the guests.
Arrangements for this aspect have been well provided for. The school showers are available for the guests of Hotel Bell Tents to utilise with these communal facilities and changing facilities presenting well.
Toilet and washing facilities are also provided within the school buildings. Further facilities are provided in the swimming pool area to assist with high levels of usage at certain times.
Guests benefit from further facilities provided at the School. The Schools refectory is not being utilised this year with a separate new servery area having been provided within the reception area and providing a breakfast provision during the period of the races.
The schools swimming pool has also been made available for the duration of the race period and it is hoped that this will be well utilised by the guests. Facilities are slightly dated in this aspect with the shower areas and changing facilities showing similar wear.
