Department Of Local Government And The Environment ### Memorandum To: Senior Planning Officer From: Miss Sarah Corlett, Planning Officer Subject: PA 09/1796 - creation of fenced compound, land off Harcourt Drive, adjacent to Total Filling Station, Balthane, Ballasalla, Malew Date: February, 2010 ### Satisfaction Of Condition This application was permitted subject to the imposition of a condition which required details of landscaping to be submitted and approved. The condition read: "Prior to 26th February, 2010 the applicant must have approved by the Planning Authority a scheme of tree and/or shrub planting and/or mounding alongside the north western boundary (parallel with the A5 Douglas Road) to reinforce the existing trees and hedging. Such planning scheme must be implemented by 31st March, 2010." The applicant now provides written details of this planting which is provided from Watson's Nurseries in Greeba and incorporates the planting of 30 whitebeam (Sorbus Aucuparia) or rowan/mountain ash (Sorbus Lutescens) high bare rooted to complement the whitebeam which are on site and with 60 to 70 large evergreen shrubs - laurel are suggested - between the trees. It is also recommended that a number of larger specimens tall are planted. There is no plan accompanying the description but there is a frontage of 80 m to the road and with the number of trees and shrubs which are proposed, this is adequate to satisfy the requirement for increasing the screening of the site from the A5 highway. This planting is to be introduced in this planting season (which ends at the end of March) in compliance with the condition. It is recommended that these details satisfy the requirement for a planting scheme and as such should be permitted. Signed. Date. 15.12.10 Miss Sarah Corlett, Planning Officer Signed. Date. 15/2110 Senior Planning Officer
