PLANNING STATUS AND RELEVANT POLICIES Within the adopted Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007, the following policies are considered to be relevant in the determination of this application: General Policy 2.
Assessment
The application site is located within an industrial Estate. The site is currently unkempt land. This proposal will result in the site being used as a car parking in connection with the newly built unit, located to the east of the applications site. I consider the use of the site to be acceptable and would not adversely affect the visual amenities of the locality.
The Highways Division of the Department of Transport have requested that the application be deferred, as the parking bay sizes do not meet the required standard of . The parking bays shown in the plans are , which is a standard car parking space. I consider the Department of Transport's request for a deferment to be unreasonable.
I therefore recommend that planning permission be granted subject to conditions.
