26 July 2011 · Delegated
Barregarrow Chapel, Ballaleigh Road, Kirk Michael, Isle Of Man, IM6 1ax
Permission was granted for an extension to Barregarroo Chapel on Ballaleigh Road, Kirk Michael. The chapel is a detached building on the corner of Ballaleigh Road and the A3, with a small area of lawn to the front and south, and an adjacent field immediately to the rear and north. During the application process, the red line boundary was revised following concerns raised by the executor of Mrs D Corlett, who owned the adjacent field. The officer's report identified three main planning issues: the potential impact on the character of the chapel and the amenity of the surrounding area, the extension of the curtilage into the countryside, and the scale and visual impact of any change in land use. The application was approved on 26 July 2011 under delegated authority, subject to three conditions.
The application was approved by the Director of Planning and Building Control under delegated authority. The key planning considerations were whether the extension would harm the character of the existing chapel or the amenity of the surrounding area, the potential extension of the curtilage into the countryside, and the visual impact of any change in land use. The application was permitted with three conditions.
