The Proposal

Sure are proposing to locate a temporary mobile trailer mast on Kimmeragh Farm, in field 114443 for 12 months to provide mobile coverage for Sure customers in the area whilst Sure relocate the existing mobile site located at the Manx Telecom Site, Ballaskilley Farm, Lhen Road, Bride to a new permanent site in Bride.

The proposed temporary site will likely run with 2 mobile panel antennas which will provide 2G/3G & 4G coverage and 1 microwave link to provide transmission to the site, all radio equipment will be fitted and contained to the trailer itself so there will be no requirement to lay foundations for the proposed temporary structure, we will be required to run a temporary armoured power cable either from the Kimmeragh Radio Site or the MUA will supply Sure a temporary feed from the electricity telegraph poles running through the field, this power cable will be buried up to the proposed location and will be removed once we remove the trailer from the site.

The purpose of the temporary trailer mast is to ensure mobile coverage on the Sure network is maintained during this period, once the new site is comissioned the temporary trailer will be removed and the area will be returned to it’s prior state.

The Application Site

The proposed location for the temporary trailer will be on Field 114443, Kimmeragh Farm, we are proposing placing the trailer along the boundary hedge on the field, highlighted below in yellow, for reference the Kimmeragh Radio Site is located in the same field, highligted in red.

Site Selection Process

We believe that the proposed location for the temporary mast will provide the best coverage to the area during the site relocation works, other options that have been considered are outlined below with the reasons why they have been discounted.

• 1. Sure mobile site at West Kimmeragh a. This has been discounted due to the requirement to provide coverage to

Bride village, unfortunately, the Sure site at West Kimmeragh does not cover the village due to the location of the site and the surrounding landscape.

• 2. Kimmeragh Radio Site a. This has been discounted due to available space on the structure, as we

would need to mount our mobile panels near the top of the structure in order to provide the required coverage to the village, unfortunately, there is no option for Sure to mount kit on this structure in a suitable position.

Visual Impact

There will be minimal visual impact for the proposed temporary mobile site, the trailer itself will be placed as close as possible to the boundary hedge and the structure itself once deployed will be no more than 10-meters in height.

The proposed location will be along the hedgeline – located within the area highlighted.
