20 June 2014 · Delegated
Isle Of Man Education, Rushen Primary School, Church Road, Port St. Mary, Isle Of Man, IM9 5lw
This application sought permission to relocate a nursery classroom unit at Rushen Primary School on Church Road, Port St Mary. The school is a sizeable building that has been extended considerably over the years, set close to the highway with large playing fields to the rear and side. The officer's assessment focused on whether the relocated unit was compatible with the school use, and whether it would harm the character and appearance of the site or neighbouring properties. The unit would be visible from the public road but was considered to read as part of the existing building. The application was approved by delegated decision on 20 June 2014, with two conditions attached.
The Department of Infrastructure approved the relocation of the nursery classroom unit at Rushen Primary School. Key considerations included the use of the site, compatibility of uses, and the impact on the character and appearance of the school. The unit would be visible from the road but would be read as part of the existing building, which was found acceptable.
