I am happy with the route you propose and would like any signing to be included in the application in order that we can assess its suitability.
As we discussed last year my main concern is to ensure that no vehicular traffic enters or leaves the site via the eastern access that leads onto Westbourne Drive and the lane beside 26 Westminster Terrace and 1 Westminster Drive.

From: Bobby [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 04 September 2013 13:05 To: Almond, Kevin; Fletcher, Hazel Cc: [email protected] Subject: Feedback needed for Planning application // Hotel Bell Tent at BAllakermeen
Dear Kevin and Hazel and all in the Highways Division,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing to you to ask for feedback on a planning application that I am submitting for a luxury campsite at Ballakermeen High School during the Isle of Man TT next year. I have already submitted a planning application for the Isle of Man TT just gone and permission was granted, however we did not proceed with the campsite as the decision came in quite late on in the day.
I'm reapplying for "temporary change of use of land" for the playing field at Ballakermeen High School from 28th May to 6th June (this includes set up, camping during the TT and taking down of the campsite). We plan to erect 60 bell tents on a section of the playing field to house TT guests during the weekend of practice week (Friday to Monday) and then race week Monday-Friday. Here is a list of the main activities on the site during the event-
School car park will be used for guests to park their bike
24/7 professional security (manned and school CCTV)
24/7 staffing of campsite to monitor/reduce noise levels to ensure low impact on surrounding residential streets
Staff for Traffic flow (in through Westminster Drive and out onto St Catherine's Drive
We are working closely with the school to provide extra accommodation for the Isle of man TT by using the school playing field and their toilets/shower and canteen facilities. Our advisor, Ed Baker, from the Isle of Man Government Planning Department has recommended that we include feedback from the Highways Division. Earlier this year I spoke to Hazel Fletcher about the appropriate signage for guests to arrive at Hotel Bell Tent/Ballakermeen to have the lowest impact on traffic and surrounding residential areas. We decided that Woodbourne Road onto Alexander Drive to Westminster Drive through the one way near the school and onto St Catherine's Drive (see picture below/attached image). We can organise effective signage for this, but would you recommend anything else we should do?
We will also have dedicated crew manning the entrance into Ballakermeen on the one way section of public road that leads to St Catherine's Drive in the most southerly end of the site. There will also be 24/7 security at this post.
