Dear Jo, I've at last got around to looking at my accumulating crop of Weekly Lists - I have lots of more exciting things to do! - and comment as follows:
13/00135 Car Park, The Tongue - seems an excellent idea. 13/00163 Flats on Villiers site - the new design appears to match the existing, so one can hardly object and it is in all our interests to get this gap filled somehow. Just one issue: when the AXA Bank block was built, it was promulgated with the intention of installing an excellent heating scheme, extracting latent heat from sea water. 3 questions:
1) Was it actually installed? 2) Did it work? 3) Is the same facility going to be installed/used for this new block?
Now that fuel efficiency/carbon emission etc., have become Planning matters, I think these questions can be asked.
13/00184 Replacement farm dwelling, Clypse Mooar - there doesn't seem to be any agricultural justification here. If approved, will it have an occupancy condition?
13/00185 A-i-P 2 replacement dwellings. Is The Clypse really a 'Hamlet' and are 'Hamlets' going to be allowed to grow?
13/00186 A-i-P new dwelling at The Clypse. The same comment/question applies. 13/00215/REM Farm workers dwelling, Douglas Rd, Ballasalla. No plans! 13/00240 A-i-P one dwelling Croit Miggal, The Dollagh. Unless there is some site history of previous residential occupation (or other buildings?) this proposal seems doomed.
13/00266/GB Extensions The Red House. This is probably one of the most important on these lists. From the drawings, the design seems not inappropriate, but it is rather large and will the original building be too swamped, one wonders?
13/00231 Restoration etc, 11 Harris Terrace. I spent an inordinate amount of time on this trying to find a Location Plan. From the address, I assumed it to relate to one of the terrace adjoining the Sefton Hotel, i.e. "Harris Terrace" must, logically, be on Harris Promenade. Eventually I gradually became persuaded that it was actually on Buck's Road. I know I have 'gone-on' before about the difficulty in finding which of the scanned bundles is likely to contain a Location Plan. If such identification is impractable, then at least the address should be comprehensive.
13/00246 various works, Salmon Centre, Laxey. We called-in here a few weeks ago for a coffee \& a cake and were impressed by what they were doing. We did though, think they were a bit short on car-parking. This scheme answers that and also improves the connection to the Great Laxey Wheel and will act both as a replacement for the Cafe which burnt down years ago and as an exhibition/information follow-up to visits there. We strongly support the idea.
13/00245 A-i-P demolition \& replacement, Surby Mount - wherever that is! Once again I failed to find an adequate Location Plan.
13/00239 Demolition \& replace, Ballacregga Farm, Port Soderick. Hardly a new farmhouse but rather just another Mansion in the Countryside! Is there really a Market? (Not a 'Planning' issue, I agree.)
Keep up the good work - and watch-out you don't get on Television on Thursday nights!
