This application sought permission to erect a detached garage with ancillary accommodation on the first floor at 112 Summerhill Road, Onchan. The property is a three-storey mid-terraced dwelling on the eastern side of Summerhill Road. The application was refused by the Department of Infrastructure under delegated powers. The decision found that the proposal represented an inappropriate form of backland development, with the form, design, layout, and relationship to the main dwelling all considered unacceptable. The development was also found to fail to provide adequate amenity for both the proposed building and the existing house.
