Laxey Harbour Chalets - Wardens Unit, The Cairns, Breeze Hill, Laxey, Isle Of Man, IM4 7dl
This retrospective application sought permission for fencing erected along a public footpath at Laxey Harbour Chalets, Breeze Hill, Laxey. The fencing was intended to mark the boundary between the holiday chalets and the adjoining land. The Planning Committee considered three main issues: the visual impact of the fencing on the surrounding area, its effect on the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, and whether it restricted access along the public footpath. Officers found the fencing to be of a relatively standard form and visually acceptable. Its height was not considered excessive, and it did not unduly affect the open nature of the wider site. On this basis, the application was approved with two conditions.
The Planning Committee approved the retrospective application. The fencing was found to be of a standard form and visually acceptable within the area, not excessive in height, and not unduly harmful to the open character of the site or the Conservation Area.
Only those developments associated with tourism will be permitted on those sites identified for tourism on the plans.
