Refusal Notice 10/01400/B
Town and Country Planning Act 1999
Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005
Arch-Tec (IOM) Ltd The Architectural Studio Stanley House Lord Street Douglas IM1 2BF
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Infrastructure does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Mr & Mrs Mark Finnie Proposal: Alterations and erection of extensions to dwelling house at: Ballaglea House Corlea Road Ballasalla Isle of Man IM9 3BA
which was considered on 22nd November 2010, for the reasons set out below.
Date of Issue: 25th November 2010
Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas
Mrs P Faragher Deputy Secretary to the Planning Committee
Reason(S) For Refusal:
- The proposed side and northern extensions would be visible from the Corlea Road and would increase the size and mass of what is a non-traditional property. As such this would conflict with Housing Policy 16. Whilst planting is proposed, this is not yet in place and until it is and is established sufficient to screen the extensions, the proposal would not comply with Housing Policy 16.
Note This refusal is without prejudice to an application for the southern extension only, which is not visible from the main road and would not be contrary to policy.
This decision was made by the Senior Planning Officer in accordance with the authority delegated to her under Article 3(13) of the Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005.
