Waterfall Hotel, Shore Road, Glen Maye, Isle Of Man, IM5 3bg
This application sought permission to erect a glazed enclosure to the front of the Waterfall Hotel on Shore Road, Glen Maye, along with an external stair to the side and alterations to the rear elevation. The hotel is a bar and restaurant with a flat above, situated on a corner plot on the northern side of Shore Road. During the assessment, plans were amended to make clear that a rear doorway would be used only for service and emergency access. The officer's site visit also identified an unauthorised structure between the hotel and an adjacent store that was not shown on the submitted plans and did not have planning permission. The Planning Committee approved the application on 13 April 2010, having considered the proposal's impact on the existing building, the surrounding area, and neighbouring properties. Two conditions were attached to the permission.
The Planning Committee approved the application. The key planning considerations were the impact on the existing building, the surrounding area, and neighbouring properties. Plans were amended during the process to restrict a rear doorway to service and emergency access only.
