Sunset Lakes Lighting Scheme
Lighting Scheme
Sunset Lakes, Peel
Planning Application 12/01140/B
1. Introduction
Condition 8 of the approval notice for application number 12/01140/B states:
> "There shall be no external lighting in the site unless approved as part of a lighting scheme submitted to and agreed in writing with the planning authority"
2. Lighting Scheme
Overview:
Angling at Sunset lakes will generally be allowed during the hours of daylight only, negating the need for lighting throughout the area of the site containing the lakes.
The operation of the tackle shop, café and education centre will generally fall within the hours of daylight. However from the last week in October to the end of February, some lighting will be needed around the buildings and pathways for a short time.
The holiday cottages will require external wall lighting on the front elevations and recessed lighting on the decking area. The roadway down to the cottages from the car park will require bollard lighting to highlight the route.
The workshops will require a floodlight on the front elevation to allow for safe working during the winter months. These will only be operated when staff are present in these locations.
Lighting locations (see attached plan for reference):
The placement of lights are highlighted on the attached plan. Four main types of lights will be used as follows:
Path lights (plan ref:- Pl.)
These are low intensity bollard type lights, standing approximately 500mm tall. Each will use a 6watt LED bulb producing around 520 Lumen. Their use will be to highlight all paths and access roads around the café area and holiday cottages. See attached photograph.
Wall lights (plan ref:- WL)
These lights are to be used to light entrance and exit areas around the café, tackle shop and holiday cottages. Each will use a 6watt LED bulb to wash the wall and surrounding area with light. See attached photograph.
Decking lights (plan ref:- DL)
These lights will be used to accent the edges of all decked areas around the café, and holiday cottages. Each will use a 0.5watt LED. See attached photograph.
Flood lights (plan ref:- FL)
These lights will be used on the front elevations of the workshops and education centre. For health and safety reasons, these areas must be well lit when attended by staff. Their use will be strictly limited to staff presence only. Each will use a 40watt LED bulb producing around 3200 Lumen. See attached photograph.
