Ballakaighen Farm is an existing agricultural small holding of some years which has in recent times diversified into family entertainment and leisure activities. These facilities include ‘Laserblast’ and ‘Fun Barn’ both of which are housed in self-contained ‘barns’ each with casual seating areas and toilet facilities. In addition to this there is an outdoor junior go-kart track and a ‘Maize Maze’ (late summer / autumn only). Planning Approval was granted for the ‘erection of a marquee and portable toilet block to accommodate functions and events (seasonal1st May to 30th September)’, Approval Number 10/00838/B, and it is this application to which we request a ‘Variation of a Conditions’.

Condition 4 – Events on Sundays to Thursdays shall finish by 22.00. Events on Fridays or Saturdays shall finish by mid-night.

Condition 5 – Events finishing after 22.00 may occur no more frequently than twice in each calendar month.

The Applicant requests that this be amended to allow all Friday and Saturday evenings between 1st May and 30th September be allowed an event finishing time of mid-night. This is to accommodate the increasing number of requests received for private / corporate functions during the summer season. The marquee has been in use

seasonally for a few years now and no complaints have been made regarding disturbance of any kind. 1400223

The Applicant also requests that events during the 'TT Fortnight', the 'Motorcycle Festival Fortnight' and the evening before 'Tynwald Day' to finish at mid-night, regardless of the evening on which they fall. The complex is not open on, and would not schedule or take bookings for late events on Sundays, even during these festivals.
