Tiled roof to rear building, previously Kingspan Insulated panels We are proposing to use these alternative methods so we can maintain the existing timber A frames which will be an exposed feature to the property, Kingspan panels would be too heavy for the A frames and would require additional steel frames which wouldn’t be in-keeping. The proposed grey tiled roof will also be in-keeping with adjacent properties on the street and will maintain the ‘cottage’ look and feel. The existing pitch and falls will be maintained as per the application (and the original building). This will also mean that the glazed section of the rear roof in our existing planning application (PW19) will no longer be installed as the slate frame cannot accommodate this weight of glass. We are proposing to put 2 additional roof lights in to replace these and maintain the natural light within this room – 4 roof lights in total Fibre Glass flat roof to front building, previously Kingspan Insulated panels We are proposing a traditional flat roof to the front building as this will be the most durable material and will hopefully negate any future issues with waterproofing. This will also be grey in colour to match what is currently existing (grey tin roof) however it is not visible from any of the adjacent properties anyway so should pose no visual issues. Glazed roof to central walkway As we’ve commenced construction we have found that to install a completely glazed roof to the central walkway between the two buildings is not feasible. We are now proposing to install a fibre glass roof to match the front building but with 2 fixed velux windows which will create light in the area. These will be as large as possible to accommodate the space whilst allowing buildability of the framing and roof. Rear Glazing
For buildability and following a feasibility review we have decided to change the rear elevation from full height and width glazing to a blockwork cavity wall with white render finish to match the rest of the property and a black aluminium box window (to match the rest of the black aluminium windows) and a single width glazed door – this will also match the front door or aluminium window style (exact spec TBC)
