Permission was granted for the additional use of an exhibition hall as a multi-functional centre at Old Corn Mill, Mines Road, Laxey. The applicants, Mr Stewart and Mrs Barbara Clague, sought to expand the permitted uses of the building on this established site. The officer's report identified parking and road safety, as well as impacts on neighbouring properties, as the main planning considerations. At the time of the site visit, the development was noted to be relatively busy and appeared to be operating successfully, with two car park areas serving the site. The application was approved by committee on 29 October 2012, subject to four conditions, with the officer having recommended approval.

It is necessary to assess the impact any development adjacent to conservation areas may have on such views.
Condition 1
The use must be taken up within four years of the date of this notice in order for this approval to remain valid after that time.
Condition 2
This approval relates to the additional use of exhibition hall as a multi functional centre, Old Corn Mill Mines Road, Laxey as shown by 243.11, 243.1.12, 243.1.13 and support letter all received 7th September 2012.
Condition 3
The decking area and adjacent area in front of the building shown on drawing no. 243.1.11 shall not be used as an external seating area and shall be utilised only for building maintenance and evacuation purposes.
Condition 4
Notwithstanding the times of operation set out in the support letter which accompanies the application this approval allows for the use of the building as a multi functional centre. The use may take place only between the hours of 9am and 11pm Sunday to Thursday and between the hours of 9am and midnight on Friday to Saturday.
