3 April 2024 · Delegated
Croit-E-Volley, Fishers Hill, Castletown, Isle Of Man, IM9 4pn
This retrospective application sought permission to replace the polycarbonate sheet roof of a greenhouse at a detached dwelling in Castletown with a lean-to pitched natural slate roof, and to use the converted structure for domestic storage purposes. The greenhouse sits on the south side of the two-storey property and is visible from the access track leading from the A5 road. The roof was replaced with natural slate and fitted with black uPVC guttering, windows, and doors. The converted building has no internal connection to the main house and is used solely for storage. The main planning considerations were the visual impact of the roofing change on the character of the site and its rural surroundings, and the acceptability of the storage use. The application was permitted by delegated decision on 3 April 2024.
The application was permitted on 3 April 2024 under delegated authority. The officer assessed the visual impact of the new slate roof on the character of the site and its rural surroundings, and the use of the former greenhouse for domestic storage, and recommended approval.
