Dear Madam
PA19/00844/B THE HERRING HOUSE (2), FORT ISLAND ROAD, DERBYHAVEN
Isle of Man Natural History & Antiquarian Society notes that while the name and address of this property refer to The Herring House, the building is in fact originally a storage shed in association with the red herring industry.
Such barns would usually be associated with an uneven distribution of window openings. The Society therefore does not believe that this proposal which appears to want to balance up window openings is therefore appropriate for the building. Moreover they would make the building unbalanced in relation to its other half to the north. This opinion is also influenced by the fact that, given its orientation, this elevation is not, for example, affected by that of tall buildings opposite which might restrict daylight to the windows.
Isle of Man Natural History & Antiquarian Society therefore objects to this application.
Yours faithfully
