Against the Grain Planning Statement
Re: Against the Grain
General information as requested: 1900277 The company specialises in free-from foods, generally healthier options and specific dietary requirements, and zero waste shopping along with environmentally-friendly items. The company also provides a 'meals on wheels' service. We cater for wholesale, food service, bulk and retail.
At Gladstone Park, we would be supplying wholesale, bulk, retail and delivery services. We have a website under construction and goods would be despatched and delivered from Gladstone Park. The meals on wheels would be delivered from here too.
In addition to the above, we would like to be able to offer some hot and cold food, on and off the premises. We envisage catering for about 10 in a casual seated area. This would be for breakfast, morning / afternoon tea and coffee, light lunches and snacks.
After the closure of Jack Frost, we took over the meals on wheels service that had been passed to them from the government. At the moment, these meals are all prepared offisland. We would like to be able to manufacture locally made meals at Gladstone Park so that we may include these into the service.
We are a very eco-friendly company and keen to reduce plastics, which we have been doing for a number of years now. For example, our carrier bags are made from plants and are biodegradable and compostable. We have many eco-friendly products and we plan to have a large zero-waste shopping area (similar to our Saddlestone shop). We have recently been contacted by UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man, and asked to join (which we will be doing).
We have 10 allocated parking spaces (which we think would be more than adequate) plus overflow of 20 spaces next to these, should there ever be the need (and for any staff parking requirements too), along with availability to all the other spaces around Gladstone Park.
With regard to opening times, we were thinking of 8am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
Staff numbers required would probably be 3 to 4 full-time (plus part-time weekend staff if required during busier times of the year).
