10 June 2019 · Committee
Southern Postal Delivery Office, Ronaldsway Industrial Estate, Ronaldsway, Ballasalla, Isle Of Man, IM9 2aa
Permission was granted for the additional use of a commercial facility at the former Southern Postal Delivery Office in Ronaldsway Industrial Estate, Ballasalla, as a sports and leisure facility. The building, which was vacant at the time of the application, sits within an established industrial estate opposite Isle of Man Airport and includes off-street parking for around 15 vehicles. The planning committee considered three main issues: whether losing the industrial unit was acceptable, how the proposed sports and leisure use would relate to neighbouring businesses on the estate, and whether the use was suitable in itself. The application was approved on 10 June 2019, subject to two conditions.
The committee approved the application, permitting the former Southern Postal Delivery Office to be used additionally as a sports and leisure facility. The key planning issues considered were the loss of the industrial unit, how the proposed use would sit alongside other businesses on the estate, and whether the use was acceptable in its own right. The application was permitted with two conditions.
