I seek permission for my existing parking area at the rear of my property to be replaced by an enclosed framed structure incorporating timber vehicular doors, pedestrian door and flat roof. The application is to enable practical space to provide:
Secure vehicular parking:
a. We are finding that persons have been using the current secluded, accessible area to urinate behind our vehicles, next to our doorway;
b. We are finding people 'waiting' in this area day or night. With two of our children still living at home, we want to keep this space safe for both our family and our property;
Practical storage of my tools, equipment and large, bulky items such as ladders and trestles;
a. Our small and narrow yard area is the only additional space we have for the aforementioned large and bulky items to be stored;
b. I currently have to use our rear reception room (which would otherwise be a dining room) to store the rest of my tools, equipment and materials.
At the advice of Registered Planning Officer Ross Brazier in his email of 10 February 2021, I have amended my request and reduced the extension's height so that it is a metre less than near neighbours, 8 Albion Terrace, which is 4.5m in height. As can be seen in the photographs accompanying my application, my immediate neighbour's garage at 6 Albion Terrace is 3.2m; we are requesting a height of 3.5m. There is an existing tiled, pitched roof shed at the rear of the existing parking area. We request the removal of this in order to create more practical space.
