Hi Farrell, It was my parents house, we moved in in October 1987. The windows were all original wooden framed sash dating from around 1920s. The fire escape was there also dating fro. The 1970s. I moved out in 1997, and at hat point only one window had been replaced, in 1995, the top floor rear bedroom, the original fell out in one omplete piece after a stupid game of indoor football, yes I kicked the ball! The frame was rotten. The rest of the rear windows were replaced over time at different times, kitchen, first floor toilet and bathroom and dining room around 2005. The rest around 2014 including the ground floor back door. All replacements were due to failure in the wooden frames which leaked and crumbed. The fire escape door was replaced in 2017 at the same time the fire escape was replaced. The fire escape was also replaced due to complete failure, the landing was completed rusted through and was in an unsafe condition and some steps had lost their strength, had I of ran up and down them they would of fallen through. I completely believe my Father thought that these replacements did not need planning permission for rear elevation as he was totally forthcoming in knowing he needed planning for the front elevation, we spoke about it as I remember him telling me a story about conservation areas and that a friends house round woodburn Square was made to remove pebbledash, also his character was that of a stickler for the rules as he had always worked within highly regulated employment. Sadly both my parents passed away last year leaving the property to myself and siblings, we had no clue that planning was needed for these changes when we put it on the market, if we had of done I would of contacted your department beforehand. I have searched through all my parents paperwork and can not find any details linking to the works carried out. We have since sold the property and due to this pending retrospective planning permission the purchasers advocate has held back on retention a sum of £7500, due to myself and 3 other siblings. We would all like this settled as soon as possible as its the final final outstanding issue from completion of the probate for my parents estate. We all wish to get past the post on this to be able to fully move on from it. All I can do is apologise on my late Father's behalf for his misunderstanding of the planning regulations for the area.
