The Council commissioned the resurfacing and re-lining of the hard tennis court area at Noble’s Park to be suitable for play for a number of sports. This work was completed in late 2011.
As part of the Noble’s Park 5-year plan, it was felt that there was an opportunity to create a covered area/building and the current plans were therefore developed.
Whilst the principle use is envisaged to be for sports, in order to maximise the use of the resurfaced multi-sports area, and to allow future flexibility, it was also considered that additional uses, commensurate with recreation and leisure, could be accommodated. Additional uses would potentially be:-
a. Indoor children’s play area b. Display/exhibition space c. Functions d. Charitable events e. Performance space
These envisaged uses would be facilitated both directly by the Council and in partnership with sporting organisations, the public, events organisers, charitable bodies, and other interest parties.
Operational times will potentially be throughout the day and evening, subject to demand.
Usage may be facilitated by the Council or hired to responsible organisations. Any hirer would be required to enter into a legal agreement between the Council and the hirer to ensure health and safety, security, insurance, and other responsibilities were in place.
Any functions would have a time limit of 12 midnight for cessation of music/alcohol. Any events involving alcohol licences would be carefully considered in tandem with the Police and other statutory services.
