2 Cronk Reayrt Glenfaba Park - Statement of Case
2 CRONK REAYRT GLENFABA PARK PEEL ISLE OF MAN IM5 1DB 11 January 2026 Planning Appeal Office Government Offices Mount Havelock Douglas Isle of Man AP25/0042 25/90398/B Cronk Reayrt, Peel
Further to our original objection in respect of the application by Manx Telecom to erect 9m telegraph poles within Cronk Reayrt, to enable fibre to be installed at our property, we would like to make further comments as follows:
It has been proposed that a 9m pole will be erected at “Sea Breeze”, Cronk Reayrt and from the 9m pole a cable will be extended and secured to our gable end, 2 Cronk Reayrt, Glenfaba Park.
We would point out that there appears to be ducting on the pavement, slightly adjacent to our drive. If this is the case, surely this could be used to supply Cronk Reayrt with fibre, rather than overhead cables.
We are told that “fibre” is the way forward and this is the future of internet services, however the 9m poles with overhead cables is a backwards move.
Manx Telecom will need to apply for permission to enter onto our property, should their appeal be successful and install cables to our gable end. We feel that this is detrimental to our property, looks unsightly and will reduce the overall value of our property. We have no desire to open our curtains in the morning and see the monstrosity of a cable, right across our windows and attached to our gable end. Manx
Telecom have not taken into account the implications of having a cable attached to our gable end.
We would like to address the following points, that Manx Telecom have not taken into account:
- The possibility of damage to our property, given the recent gale force winds we are encountering and which appear to be increasing considerably and who would be responsible for any damage incurred to our property;
- The noise element of the wind whipping through the cable; and
- Lack of sleep;
Manx Telecom have not considered our feelings, had any discussions with any of the households concerned but have gone ahead with this application with no thought to the houseowners within Cronk Reayrt.
We trust you will take our views and comments into account when this appeal is due to be considered.
Yours faithfully
