Comment 1 Castletown
From: Steve Gorry Sent: 23 February 2018 12:57 To: DEFA, Planning Subject: 18/00110/B
Dear Sirs,
I write in Support of the Planning application 18/00110/B - Variation of condition two of PA 17/00319/B, to extend the permitted opening hours to 7am-Midnight daily - at The Old Mortuary Farrants Way Castletown Isle Of Man IM9 1NR.
I have no Interested Party or Third Party status, however I am a resident and ratepayer of Castletown and also work in the town.
My comments are as follows:-
- highway safety - an earlier start and later finish of the operations of the business will further spread traffic use into lower density times, and the proximity to the town square will promote people walking rather than driving
- local amenity - this enterprise is one that is not currently catered for in the town and will improve facilities and amenities for residents
- noise - in the absence of residential property in the vicinity I don't believe there will be any impact
- privacy - in the absence of residential property in the vicinity I don't believe there will be any impact
- visual impact (public) - whilst this application only concerns the operating hours, if it is for the benefit of a business that is improving and preserving a building of note in the town then it must be improving the visual impact
- wider economic impact - any improvement in business efficiency can only improve employment prospects and general revenue from direct and indirect taxation, business rates, future rents payable to the Commissioners etc.
- previous decisions - numerous other businesses already operate as early and later than this proposal I would like to be kept informed of any decision.
I would prefer my address not to be disclosed to public access.
Kind regards, Mr Stephen GORRY
