Both of our daughters have recently passed their driving test and purchased a car. Currently, we park our vehicles on the driveway and our daughters park on the road outside the house (see below)
Due to this, and a crumbling, pot-holed asphalt driveway (see below), we are planning on combining both increased parking provision with an attractive, welcoming front garden. {{image:121246}}

Our plan is to: -
remove part of the lawn and replace it, along with the current driveway, with permeable Tobermore Heather Tegula paving.
remove two metres of the front hedge and install a drop kerb.
level the existing sloping lawn and reseed. This will not exceed the existing highest ground level of the lawn.
build a retaining wall around the paved driveway and in front of the hedges. This will be constructed of Tobermore Heather face bricks with underlit coping stones on top. This will not exceed 0.2 metres above ground level.
remove the untidy boundary hedge and replace it with a Griselinia hedge, which will be in keeping with the neighbour's hedge on their property.
cover the existing concrete path in front of the house with permeable Tobermore buff paving slabs and create a step that will take you from these paving slabs to the lawn area.
replace the drain covers.
