25 July 2023 · Committee
Goldies Loughan, Jurby East, Isle Of Man, IM7 3ez
Permission was granted to convert an existing stable at Goldies Loughan, Jurby East into a home office. The site lies to the south of Bretney Road in the parish of Jurby. The officer's report noted that the stable's redundancy was supported by photographs showing it surrounded by domestic items with no horses present. The building was found to be structurally intact and of traditional form, giving it architectural interest that made it suitable for conversion rather than demolition. The application was assessed against three main issues: the principle of the development, its effect on the character and street scene, and its impact on neighbouring amenities. The proposal was found acceptable on all three counts, and permission was granted subject to two conditions.
The application was approved on 25 July 2023. The stable was found to be no longer in active use, structurally sound, and of traditional architectural form, making it suitable for conversion to a home office. The proposal was considered acceptable in terms of its principle, its effect on the character of the street scene, and its impact on neighbouring amenities.
